Serin is a Project Associate at UNU-EHS and the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII). In this role, she focuses on advancing innovative solutions for climate risk management, with a particular emphasis on integrating climate risk finance into broader climate finance policies and investment strategies for countries highly vulnerable to climate change. Serin also supports V20 countries in developing and coordinating Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (CDRFI) solutions, with a focus on initiatives such as the Global Shield and the V20 Sustainable Insurance Facility

Prior to this role, Serin worked at the Green Climate Fund (GCF), where she focused on programming for the MENA region. She contributed to the initiation and development of climate projects and coordinated with stakeholders to ensure alignment with national climate challenges, policies, and priorities. Her responsibilities included project origination and collaboration with governments, MDBs, UN agencies, and the private sector to develop country-specific climate programs.

Serin also has experience in national agricultural insurance in Korea, where she played a key role in developing and implementing insurance policies, including evaluating the impact of climate change on insurance payouts. She led the development of a new insurance product, handling budgeting, product design, and stakeholder coordination. Her work included comprehensive analysis of agricultural insurance, estimating future premium rates, policy reviews, farm site visits, and collaborating with both public and private sectors.

Serin holds a Master’s degree in Climate Change Finance and Investment from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor’s degree in Food and Resource Economics, with a double major in Financial Engineering, from Korea University.
