2nd Bonn Risk Finance Dialogue | Advancing CDRFI: Scaling Up, Scaling Out, and Scaling Deep

17–18 June 2026 | Haus der Evangelischen Kirche (EViB) Bonn, Germany & Online

Convened by MCII and the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), the 2nd Bonn Risk Finance Dialogue will take place on 17–18 June 2026 in Bonn, Germany, and online, on the margins of the UNFCCC June Climate Meetings.

Bringing together policymakers, practitioners, financial institutions, researchers, and development partners, the Dialogue will provide a platform to exchange perspectives and explore practical pathways for advancing Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (CDRFI) in a context of intensifying climate risks and increasing fiscal pressures across climate-vulnerable countries.

The programme will be structured around three key areas: scaling up policy and financing frameworks, scaling out financial protection solutions, and scaling deep through stronger delivery and implementation systems. Across these themes, participants will engage in discussions on how to strengthen financial resilience and improve protection for vulnerable communities.

Over the course of two days, the Dialogue will feature a high-level opening, thematic panels, an interactive partner-led workshop, and dedicated networking opportunities. The programme will also feature a presentation by the winners of last year’s Agency and Change Project from MCII’s Young Professionals Network programme, climer,  who will showcase their innovative, CDRFI-related project and share the insights they gained through the programme.

On the Evening of 17 June, a Reception will be held at the Bonn City Hall (Altes Rathaus) to mark the culmination of MCII’s 20th Anniversary celebration. This occasion will offer a moment to reflect on MCII’s journey over the past two decades, while also showcasing its current work, impact and looking ahead to its vision for the future. The evening will further recognize the vital role of the City of Bonn, whose continued support has been instrumental in shaping and advancing MCII’s efforts and achievements in CDRFI.

The Event Programme and Registration Link will be uploaded here shortly. Stay tuned for further updates on the Dialogue!
