Twenty years ago, a dedicated group of experts convened near Munich with a bold agenda: to tackle the challenge of "Insuring the Uninsurable" – providing financial protection for climate-affected communities. Since then, the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII) has not only pioneered and shaped international discourse on climate risk insurance and financial protection, but it has also grown into a highly capable entity. Today, MCII actively engages in technical modeling and facilitates direct climate risk transfer solutions for vulnerable populations at the frontlines of climate change.

To mark this significant milestone, we are launching a special anniversary campaign throughout 2025 and into 2026, celebrating MCII's enduring mission, achievements, and profound impact.

The campaign kicks off in June 2025 with the Expert Meeting "The Future of Climate and Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (CDRFI)." We'll also be launching a new website featuring highlights of MCII's 20-year journey of impact, and a special campaign logo will identify all related events and activities over the next year.
