On 13 October 2017, the Global Index Insurance Facility (GIIF), MCII, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) launched the first-ever online database on climate risk insurance. The "Climate Insurance" database shares global experiences, best practices, and innovative solutions in climate risk management and insurance. This collaborative effort aims to promote risk transfer as a tool for helping vulnerable populations recover faster from climate-related disasters. Managed by the World Bank Group and supported by various governments, the platform encourages synergy between global climate and disaster frameworks.
