The current document outlines important options about how insurance may be used in the context of climate change-related loss and damage. In the past, MCII has also contributed to thinking about the use of insurance-related tools for adaptation to climate change. Between 2008 and 2011 MCII contributed several submissions to the UNFCCC on potential roles of insurance for weather-related risks in the context of adaptation.
